Today we commence a series of interviews highlighting inspirational young people from around the world Like the stars in the sky, they shine light on our communities, supporting and helping those less fortunate. Our first interview is with Elif Kaya, 15 years old from Istanbul Turkey. Elif is a mental health advocate, a published writer and founder of One Smile Effect a global organisation that supports teens emotionally by providing free, accessible mental health resources. She has reached out to 2000 people from over 30 countries worldwide. Elif is a volunteer at 7 cups, the worlds largest mental health organisation and writes short stories raising awareness of social issues such as domestic abuse, civil rights and gender equality. Meet Elif! 👩 Elif is an incoming high school sophomore from Istanbul, Turkey. She is a mental health equity advocate, a published writer, and a STEM enthusiast. 🗣 She is also the founder and executive director of One Smile Effect (@onesmileffect), a global organization that that supports teens emotionally by providing free and accessible mental health resources. As the founder of the first and only student-led mental health initiative in Turkey, she has reached out to 2000 people from over 30 countries and working tirelessly to expand her outreach. 🤝 With her love of helping others, she also volunteers at 7 Cups (@7cups), the world’s largest mental health organization, and provides emotional support to teens across the globe by listening to their struggles ranging from loneliness to family stress. 📝 Along with leading and volunteering at mental health initiatives, she writes short stories, most of which raises awareness on social issues like domestic abuse, civil rights, and gender equality.
